In honor of the first day of Fall, here’s a video I made two years ago, right after I figured out how After Effects works. Maybe I’ll make a new version this year.

Here’s the video I did for our trip to Passport last week. The video isn’t shaky, it’s edgy. Shot on a D7000, edited in the most professional video software around: iMovie. Soundtrack is the DIY extended version of “Lay ‘Em Down” by Needtobreathe.

A year of Avett Bros.
The main idea of this post is that I really really like the music of the Avett Brothers. If you don’t want to read the rest, at least you have the gist of it now. If you want to continue, be my guest. For the past year, I’ve been listening almost exclusively to the Avett Brothers. Yeah, there were times when other artists got some playing time. Mumford and Sons had their moment. So...

Overton teacher uses Twitter in classroom →
Cool story in the Tennessean about a great teacher at Overton (where I went to high school). I never had him in class, but he was our Ultimate frisbee coach sophomore year, and that was pretty awesome. The stuff he’s doing with Twitter is pretty sweet, too. Johnny O, for the win. Go Bobcats.

Happiness [is] not real unless shared
I go out by myself a lot. I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve been to the mountains since I started college here at Tennessee, but it doesn’t take any time at all to count how many times I’ve gone with someone else: zero. I love being out there on my own, independent, solo, free. I drink it in, savoring the moments when it’s just me and the mountains, no one else around (or at least no one else...

Shots from a weekend in Colorado. The heavy snow is all from just south of Breckenridge, on Quandary Peak and the Mohawk Lakes Trail. Most of the other shots are from a drive south down highway 24 along the Sawatch Range and the Collegiate Peaks. Music: “Colorado” by The Rentals
